Grants Administration and Consulting Service

Most U.S. universities and other grant-administering agencies outside have accounting and bureaucratic procedures geared for research carried out in their home country. And most Oaxacan universities and research institutes employ grant-administration techniques that do not meet accountability standards of most U.S. grant-administering agencies. In these cases, the Welte Institute, which benefits from a staff and associates with extensive experience with foreign-funded research in Oaxaca, is able to provide local grant administration and consulting services. The Institute is currently providing such services for a project being carried out by the North American Integration and Development Center at UCLA with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation.

Grants overhead

It is the policy of the Welte Institute for Oaxacan Studies not to pay overhead on grants that it gives out.
